Drug Uses
Combipres is indicated for treatment of high blood pressure. It may also be used for other conditions as determined by your doctor.
How Taken
Use Combipres as directed by your doctor. To avoid stomach upset take Combipres with a meal. Take it with a full glass of water. Do not stop taking this medication suddenly even if you feel better.
Warnings/Precautions
Before taking Combipres, tell your doctor or pharmacist if you have any medical conditions, especially if you have allergies to medicines, if you are allergic to any ingredient in Combipres, if you have type of heart disease, had a heart attack or a stroke, have kidney disease, high levels of cholesterol or triglycerides (types of fat) in your blood, seizures, have gout, pancreatitis or diabetes, if you are pregnant, planning to become pregnant or are breast–feeding. If you are pregnant or planning on becoming pregnant, discuss with your doctor the benefits and risks of using Combipres during pregnancy. It is not known if Combipres passes into breast milk. If you are or will be breast–feeding while you are using Combipres, check with your doctor or pharmacist to discuss the risks to your baby. Some medicines may interact with Combipres. Therefore tell your doctor of all prescription or nonprescription medicine, herbal preparation, or dietary supplement that you are taking. Do not take Combipres if you have any type of liver disease, have an allergy to sulfa–based drugs such as sulfa antibiotics (you may have an allergic reaction to chlorthalidone), or are taking a monoamine oxidase inhibitor (MAOI) such as isocarboxazid (Marplan), phenelzine (Nardil), or tranylcypromine (Parnate). Elderly patients may be more sensitive to the effects of Combipres and may require a lower dosage. Combipres is not approved for use in children.
Missed Dose
If you miss a dose take it as soon as you remember. However if it is almost time for the next dose, skip the Missed Dose and continue your regular dosing schedule. Do not take a double dose to make up for a missed one.
Possible Side Effects
Some of the Possible Side Effects are- fatigue, dizziness, tiredness, tingling or numbness in your arms, legs, hands, or feet, headache, constipation, nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, or diarrhea, insomnia, increased hunger or thirst or a dry mouth (sucking on ice chips or sugarless hard candy may relieve this side effect), excessive urination, muscle weakness or cramps, blurred vision, impotence, or sensitivity to sunlight. Contact your doctor if any of these or other side effects occur. If you experience any of the following serious side effects, you should seek medical attention immediately- an allergic reaction (difficulty breathing, closing of your throat, swelling of your lips, tongue, or face, or hives), a very slow heart rate (fewer than 60 beats per minute), unusually high or low blood pressure (fainting, a severe headache,ushing of your face), chest pain, yellowing of your skin or eyes, unusual bleeding or bruising, or little or no urine.
Storage
Store Combipres at 77 °F (25 °C), excursions permitted to 59 to 86 °F (15 to 30 °C). Store away from heat, moisture, and light. Do not store in the bathroom. Keep Combipres out of the reach of children.
Overdose
If overdose is suspected seek medical attention immediately. Some of the symptoms of Combipres overdose are- drowsiness, lethargy, weakness, lightheadedness, a slow heart rate, nausea, vomiting, increased urination, and possibly seizures.
More Information
Combipres may cause dizziness, lightheadedness, or fainting. These effects may worsen if Combipres is taken with alcohol or certain other medications. Use Combipres with caution. Do not drive or perform other possibly unsafe tasks until you know how you react to this drug. If your symptoms do not improve or if they worsen, contact your doctor. Combipres should be used only by the patient for whom it has been prescribed. Do not take less or more or take it more often than prescribed by your doctor
