Drug Uses
Emulgel is used for topical treatment of pain and inflammation due to injury to tendons, ligaments, muscle and joints, eg sprains, strains and bruises, muscle aches, backache, and arthritis. It may also be used for other conditions as determined by your doctor.
How Taken
Use Emulgel as directed by your doctor. The gel should be rubbed gently into the skin over the affected area.
Warnings/Precautions
Before using Emulgel, tell your doctor or pharmacist if you have any medical conditions, especially if you have allergies to medicines, if you are allergic to any ingredient in Emulgel, if you have bone marrow depression, canker sores, or a hole, bleeding, or destruction of tissue in the stomach or intestines, or you are dehydrated, if you are pregnant, planning to become pregnant or are breast–feeding. Do not use Emulgel if you are pregnant. Avoid becoming pregnant while you are taking it. If you think you may be pregnant, contact your doctor right away. It is not known if Emulgel is found in breast milk. Do not breast–feed while taking Emulgel. Some medicines may interact with Emulgel. Therefore tell your doctor of all prescription or nonprescription medicine, herbal preparation, or dietary supplement that you are taking. This medication is for external use only. Do not apply the gel to broken, diseased, infected or irritated skin, or to open wounds. Wash your hands thoroughly after applying this medicine, unless the hands are the area being treated. Avoid contact of this medicine with the eyes and the moist membranes lining the inside of certain parts of the body, eg mouth, nasal passages (mucous membranes). Rinse with cold water if accidental contact occurs. It is not recommended to cover the area being treated with airtight dressings such as bandages or other dressings, as these will enhance the absorption of the medicine into the body and may increase the risk of adverse effects. If large areas of the body are covered with gel, absorption into the bloodstream will be greater and the risk of side effects increased, especially if the gel is used frequently. If symptoms persist despite treatment, seek medical advice from your doctor or pharmacist. You should avoid excessive exposure to bright sunlight while using this medicine, as it may increase the risk of sunburn.
Missed Dose
If you miss a dose take it as soon as you remember. However if it is almost time for the next dose, skip the Missed Dose and continue your regular dosing schedule. Do not take a double dose to make up for a missed one.
Possible Side Effects
Some of the Possible Side Effects are- allergic inflammation of the skin (contact dermatitis), rash, abnormal reaction of the skin to light, usually a rash (photosensitivity), allergic reactions (rash, hives, itching, difficulty breathing, tightness in the chest, swelling of the mouth, face, lips, or tongue).If you experience these or any other side effects, you should seek medical attention immediately.
Storage
Store Emulgel at 77 °F (25 °C). Store away from heat, moisture, and light. Do not store in the bathroom. Keep Emulgel out of the reach of children.
Overdose
If overdose is suspected seek medical attention immediately.
More Information
If your symptoms do not improve or if they worsen, contact your doctor. Emulgel should be used only by the patient for whom it has been prescribed. Do not take less or more or take it more often than prescribed by your doctor.
