Drug Uses
Viagra is used for treatment of impotence in men. Viagra increases the body`s ability to achieve and maintain an erection during sexual stimulation. This drug does not protect you from getting HIV (AIDS) and other sexually transmitted diseases.
How Taken
Viagra soft comes as a tablet to take in orally. Keep it under your tongue until it dissolves. It is usually taken as needed about 15–20 minutes before sexual activity. Do not take Viagra more than once a day. Do not take more or less of this drug or take it for a longer time than prescribed by your doctor.
Warnings/Precautions
You may need a dosage adjustment or special monitoring during treatment or you may not be able to take Viagra at all if you currently have or have a history of- a heart attack, stroke, life threatening irregular heartbeats within the last six months; have a history of heart failure; coronary artery disease, angina, have high or low blood pressure; liver, kidney problems or blood problems, including sickle cell anemia or leukemia; have a bleeding disorder; a stomach ulcer; have retinitis pigmentosa (an inherited condition of the eye; have a physical deformity of the penis such as Peyronie's disease; have a condition that could lead to prolonged and painful erections, such as a tumor of the bone marrow, sickle cell anemia, or leukemia; or if you are taking another medicine for treatment of impotence. Viagra is not indicated to be used by women and should not be taken by women; however, this drug is in the FDA pregnancy category B. Which means that animal–reproduction studies have not demonstrated a fatal risk but there are no controlled studies in pregnant women, or animal–reproduction studies have shown an adverse effect (other than a decrease in fertility) that was not confirmed in controlled studies in women in the first trimester (and there is no evidence of a risk in later trimesters). It is not known if Viagra passes into breast milk. Women should not take Viagra. Patients over 65 years old may be more sensitive to Viagra and a re more likely to experience side effects. These patients may require a lower dose and/or special monitoring during treatment.
Missed Dose
Viagra is taken when needed, so it is not likely to miss a dose.
Possible Side Effects
Some of the Possible Side Effects are- headache,ushing of the face, and upset stomach, temporary changes in color vision (such as trouble telling the difference between blue and green objects or having a blue color tinge to them), eyes being more sensitive to light, or blurred vision. In rare occasions, men have reported an erection that lasts many hours. You should call a doctor immediately if you ever have an erection that lasts more than 4 hours. If not treated right away, permanent damage to your penis could occur. Heart attack, stroke, irregular heart beats, and death have been reported rarely in men taking Viagra. Most of these men had heart problems before taking this medicine and it is not possible to determine whether these events were directly related to Viagra. Some of these side effects may go away within a few hours, however if the side effects are persistent or especially bothersome, you should contact your doctor.
Storage
Store this medication at room temperature 15–30°C (59–86°F). Keep away from children and excess heat and moisture (not in the bathroom).
Overdose
If overdose is suspected seek medical attention immediately. Some of the possible symptoms of Viagra overdose are- chest pain, dizziness, an irregular heartbeat, and swelling of the ankles or legs.
More Information
Do not take Viagra together with certain medicines that contain nitrates, it may cause your blood pressure to drop suddenly to an unsafe level. This may make you dizzy, lose conscious, and have a heart attack or a stroke. Consult your doctor about which medicines contain nitrates. Viagra should be used only for treatment of erectile dysfunction. Viagra Soft can be taken with 1–2 glasses of wine, however do not abuse alcohol and avoid strong drinks like Vodka. This drug is not indicated for children, newborns or women. Do not let anyone else take Viagra which is prescribed to you. Take Viagra under doctor`s supervision.
